A Must-Stop destination in Nairobi, Kenya: Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens and Museum

Thinking & Dreaming of a Safari in Kenya?
If that´s your case, please contact me to find out more about this beautiful destination, the multiple options and, I´d be super happy to share with you many tips on where to stay and what to enjoy whilst stopping by in Nairobi.

A favourite place in Nairobi for me when I visited this country a few years back was called KAREN BLIXEN COFFEE GARDEN. The reception at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages, Ltd. is the Historic Swedo House which was the original hunting lodge/farmhouse, built between 1906 and 1908 belonging to the famous Out of Africa Blixen family.

It is located approximately half a mile from the Karen Blixen Museum (Bogani House from the film “Out of Africa”) and adjacent to the Karen Golf and Country Club where guests can enjoy a host of leisure activities.
Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages is a luxury boutique hotel, situated on a historic site in the leafy suburb of Karen, Nairobi. It is the perfect venue to start or finish your African Safari.

Kenya is easily combinable with Tanzania, seeing the gorillas in Rwanda and a bit of R&R at the end either in Zanzibar or the Middle East.

Tasmania: Daily Tour to the South-West

One of my friends usually goes to Tasmania for a conference, and being stretched with time, she has never really grasped the opportunity to stay longer in ¨Tassy¨ and visit our most beautiful southern island. When I saw this DAILY TOUR, I thought of her and I thought it might be of interest to you too – in case you also find yourself in Hobart for just a few days.

This 9.5 hour tour will take you to Hastings Cave and Tahune Airwalk in Tasmania’s Far South. Leaving Hobart, you will quickly descend into the beautiful Huon Valley as for a 2 hour journey. Drive through the beautiful winding roads of the Deep South as you stretch your legs at the wooden boat building town of Franklin, before heading to Hastings Caves. After a quick walk through a spectacular cool temperature rainforest, head underground with a specialist guides. They will expertly guide you through the largest dolomite cave open to visitors in Australia. Above all, you will learn about the spectacular stalactites, columns, shawls and stalagmites. Although underground, the cave is spacious with no narrow passages. However, there are 250 stairs with handrails leading you in and out of Hastings Cave.

Following your visit to Hastings Caves, explore more of the Huon Valley as you wind through the countryside toward Tahune Airwalk. After lunch your tour ventures into the forest at Tahune, where you will spend 2 hours exploring the forest. Here you get to walk among the treetops on the Tahune Airwalk – a steel canopy that overlooks the forest floor 30 metres below. Breathe deep as you do a forest walk and be brave as you cross the river on a swinging bridge or alternatively follow the sturdy footpath or relax on the deck overlooking the forest and enjoy a drink or snack from the cafe.
Finally, you can sit back and relax as you make your tour makes its way back to Hobart.

Passel Estate, Margaret River: Nature and Wine Tour, September – March

Following the Margaret River bushfires of 2011, the owners of Passel Estate provided refuge to a family (or Passel) of Western Ringtail Possums that had been displaced by the fires. The possums quickly adapted to their new surrounds and the sanctuary provided by the giant peppermint trees, (Agonis flexuosa).

The owners have since installed two soft-release enclosures alongside the creekline, to enable the successful rehabilitation of more Western Ringtail Possums at the estate, working alongside local conservation groups and guided by the code of practice for wildlife rehabilitation in Western Australia.

They have developed the Nature and Wine Walk experience (available from September to March), which demonstrates their environmental and sustainability practices, which underpin all of endeavours.

Luxury meets adventure on an extraordinary journey to the Enchanted Islands aboard Aqua Mare. Aqua Expeditions is thrilled to present a one-off 5N itinerary from October 6 – 11 in East Galapagos. Following this, a 7N sailing from October 18 – 25 is the final trip for 2024.

Aqua Mare guests will now have the opportunity to visit Charles Darwin Foundation’s (CDF) Marine Research Centre for a firsthand look at conservation efforts in place to protect Galapagos’ delicate ecosystems. This excursion supplements Aqua Expeditions’ new sustainability partnership with the CDF, which will support efforts to protect the region’s shark population and vital mangrove ecosystems.

Aqua Expeditions voyages across the Galapagos archipelago offer a gateway to a world unlike any other. Brick-red sandy beaches, ancient lava flows, and teeming mangroves are all waiting to be explored.
